How Dermaroller Works and What Are The Benefits?
The concept of DermaRoller treatment is to use ultrafine needles to create controlled injury to the skin without causing damage. This controlled injury stimulates the production of collagen and elastine in the deepest layers of the skin, creating a plump and younger looking appearance.
The needles also create micro-channels in the skin, which allow the active ingredients of products to be absorbed deeper and therefore achieve optimized results. Basically, this skin therapy will provide:
Reduce Fine Lines And Wrinkles
Fade Scars And Stretch Marks
Help Heal Sun Damage
What Kind Of Dermaroller Is Suitable For You?
There are various depth of needles available from 0.20mm to 3mm designed to target different skin conditions. In general the deeper the needle depth the more servere the condition is that you are treating, such as acne pitting or stretch marks.
Needles between 0.5mm-1.5mm are most commonly used to treat anti-ageing and skin renewal.
It is NOT necessarily the case, the deeper the needle, the better the result. The effectiveness of a Dermaroller treatment depends on preparation, skill of the practitioner and the combination of treatment that it is used with, after care is also a essential part to the success of this treatment.
Some skincare brand are now offering homecare packages so that you can carry out this procedure at home to maintain the results you get from your salon treatment. For example: DermaQuest Pure Infusion Daily Essential Kit. It includes a 0.25mm roller and other essential daily skincare products.
What does the treatment process involve
1. Skin Consultation We all have different skin conditions and different objectives. Therefore before any treatment we always carry out a FREE skin consultation with our clients – the purpose is to access the suitability of the treatment and go through Dos and Don’ts before and after the treatment.
2. Cleanse & Anaesthetic Cream Before your Dermaroller procedure, a topical anaesthetic cream will be applied on the areas to be treated. This is to numb the skin to make the treatment more comfortable. It will usually take about 30mins for the anaesthetic to take effect.
3. Dermaroller Application A disposable dermaroller will be used on your skin to create controlled injury. The roller is only used once due to health and safety concern. This will take about 15-30mins depends on the area treated.
4. Post Care & Finish Topical serums and creams are applied to the skin, to cool, sooth and hydrate the skin after treatment.
After care procedure after treatment
Following your Dermaroller treatment your skin will feel warm and will have mild redness and slight discomfort, the feeling is similar to mild or moderate sunburn, it is important to treat the skin gently and provide SPF protection to your skin.
